GridBridge Sourcing quote comparison through a written scope

The sourcing process at GridBridge Sourcing turns a brand-led search into one matrix. Factories are asked to price alternative steel buildings on that matrix. Original-brand supply is outside this service.

  1. Use and occupancy
  2. Footprint, eave height, clear span
  3. Wind, snow, seismic criteria
  4. Code jurisdiction
  5. Quantity and destination
  6. Shell, freight, or installation boundary

Shell package against installed scope

Read the two columns as scope boundaries, not as two brands and not as prices. A number is comparable only when both suppliers tick the same cells.

Primary frame and secondary framingAsk for member type, hot-rolled or cold-formed, and the purlin and girt layout.Same frame list, plus who checks fit-up on site.

Foundation interfaceAnchor reactions are often a drawing deliverable, not the concrete work.Concrete may still be excluded. Do not assume the pier is included.
Freight and crane lift planUsually excluded or listed as a separate freight line.Unloading and lift may be included while haul permits stay outside.
Engineering documentsRequest calculations and drawings for the quoted system and jurisdiction.Ask whether a local stamp is in scope or only a design package for others to stamp.

Checks before a supplier is asked to quote

  • One quantity basis

Count buildings or modules, and say whether a future bay is in this order or only shown as a knock-out on the drawing.

  • One destination

Write the delivery point that sets freight. A billing address is not the transport envelope limit.

  • Open exclusions

Mark doors, liners, gutters, mezzanines, and cranes as included, excluded, or not chosen. An unmarked line is not a gift.

  • Document owner

State who reviews the calculation set: the buyer structural engineer, the authority having jurisdiction, or both.

  • Budget label

If you add a target, label currency and whether it is per building or for the whole order. The label is a preference, not a market index.

  • Change path

Ask how a revised snow load or a wider door is repriced. Verbal alternates should not sit beside the base quotation.

When the matrix is stable, move to building options or send it through the brief form. GridBridge Sourcing coordinates the questions. It does not award the contract and it does not replace the project engineer.

Scope questions buyers raise

Which costs have to be split out?

Keep the building package, outbound freight, duties or taxes if the route crosses a border, foundation work, and installation labor on separate lines. A single landed number hides which of those the supplier refused.

What if two factories use different steel grades?

Record the submitted grade and coating on each sheet. Do not average them. The buyer engineer accepts or rejects the substitution before the commercial comparison continues.

Does a standard layout skip the jurisdiction?

A repeatable bay can shorten drafting only when the published module dimensions, loads, and energy rules fit the site. Otherwise the item is a custom frame, and the quotation should say that.

Who confirms IAS AC472 or ISO 9001?

Ask the supplier which certificate, plant, and date apply to the system being quoted. GridBridge Sourcing does not display those marks as its own, and a certificate for a different plant is not evidence for this order.

Ask for quotations on the same written scope

Send the checklist you are ready to stand behind. Factories should answer that list rather than a brand name alone.

Enter the buyer contact name.
Enter a work email for the quotation follow-up.
Enter the buying company.
Describe the specification, quantity, destination, and delivery timing.

The desk reviews the brief and asks factories for quotations on that written scope. Stock, price, code approval, and delivery stay unconfirmed until a named supplier answers the exact system. Read the Privacy Policy.
